Head Men’s Volleyball Coach

Reporting directly to the Athletic Director, the Head men’s Volleyball Coach is expected to lead the university team in all aspects of student/athlete success. Leading by example, the Coach will model a championship program in character, communication, in the classroom, and on and off the court behavior.

JOB EXPECTATIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Recruiting and retaining quality student-athletes who understand and embrace Carolina University’s mission and vision.
  • Modeling and Teaching the value of Christian competition.
  • Mentorship and exemplary modeling for young men to grow and develop into successful leaders in society.
  • Responsible for leading, managing, and developing the entire men’s Volleyball Program.
  • Holistic approach to the student-athlete development of mind, body, and soul.
  • Lead the planning and oversight of the Men’s Volleyball Program budget.
  • Creating service and mission opportunities for student-athletes to give back to the community.
  • Monitoring academic performance of student-athletes and partnering with Academics for sustainability and success with persistence toward a degree
  • Daily practice and game responsibilities while building a championship-caliber team.
  • Maintaining consistent campus visibility and communication.
  • Scouting reports, regional connectivity, internal/ external communications.
  • Office work, including but not limited to: game contracts and scheduling, budget management, travel and equipment needs, training and conditioning (partnering with Athletic Staff)
  • Supervision of the Assistant Coach and volunteers/student workers as applicable.
  • Contribute to the development and growth of the Athletic Department as a whole.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; masters degree preferred.
  • Experience in coaching volleyball (3-5 years), collegiate level coaching preferred.
  • Understanding of and commitment to CU and NAIA principles.
  • Commitment to adhering to all policies, rules, and regulations of Carolina University including representing the University on the highest level.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with other administrators, coaches, students, faculty members, community leaders and parents.
  • Good written and oral communication skills and regular communication with Athletic Offices.
  • Ability to join and engage with the Carolina University family for any and all events.
  • Desire to build a proud, distinguished, championship program.

Most important to the success of this program is leading by example. Representing a person of high character, high integrity, clear communication that recruits and retains a quality student/athlete who fits CU and persists to graduation is an essential component.

Carolina University seeks a mature and experienced professional to serve as our Head Men’s Volleyball Coach. We are accepting applications immediately and the position will remain open until filled. Goal is to select a Head Coach by May 1, 2024. Start date is flexible.

This is a Full-Time staff position; salary range is based on experience and education.
