About the Appalachian Athletic Conference. The Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) is one of the NAIA’s premier athletic conferences, committed to excellence in competition, integrity in governance, and the holistic development of student-athletes. The Conference serves its member institutions by providing championship opportunities, promoting sportsmanship and character, ensuring compliance with NAIA standards, and advancing the mission of intercollegiate athletics through collaboration and shared leadership.
The Opportunity. The Appalachian Athletic Conference seeks a collaborative, highly organized, and mission-driven executive to serve as its next Commissioner.
The successful candidate will possess outstanding organizational and communication skills, exceptional judgment, financial and administrative acumen, and a deep commitment to student-athlete success, institutional collaboration, and the values of the NAIA. The Council of Presidents seeks a leader who is equally comfortable setting strategic direction, building strong relationships, and personally managing the day-to-day operations of a high-performing Conference office.
Position Summary.
The Commissioner is accountable to the Council of Presidents for advancing the Conference’s strategic priorities while delivering exceptional operational support and service to its member institutions.
Working closely with the Council of Presidents, athletics administrators, coaches, faculty athletics representatives, the NAIA, and external partners, the Commissioner promotes the Conference’s mission while ensuring excellence in operations, integrity in governance, and outstanding service to member institutions.
