Men’s Head Basketball Coach and Assistant Coach

Both head Coach and Assistant Coach positions available

This position directs all aspects of leading Tabor’s intercollegiate men’s basketball program including recruiting, teaching, scheduling and integration of faith.

• Develop and instruct student- athletes in basketball techniques and strategies in preparation for and during athletics competition.
• Contact, scout, and build relationships with recruits in compliance with NAIA and KCAC guidelines.
• Ensure a commitment to the academic success of basketball student-athletes, including monitoring academic performance, attendance, and social behavior.
• Provide on-site coaching in games and practices, including organization and implementation of yearly and daily practice schedules.
• Formulate scouting reports, statistical breakdowns, and opponent video breakdown.
• Build and sustain positive relationships with student-athletes, parents, alumni, faculty, staff, and the campus community.
• Provide individualized instruction to players before and after practice and competitions.
• Manage the scheduling of events including the game and travel schedule.
• Participate in fundraising and development events and be highly visible in the community and with the alumni.
• Provide leadership to the implementation of the plan for integrating faith into the basketball program
• Manage all spending for operations and recruiting within the budget parameters determined by Tabor’s executive team.
• Assist the Director of Athletics in the budget developing process.
• Recruiting – DB management, coordinate with admissions and financial aid, complete recruiting reports as requested.
• Hire, supervise, develop, and evaluate a full-time assistant, and graduate assistant.
• Manage scholarship budget – work with Director of Athletics and FA office in order to prepare estimates and official scholarship offers to recruits as well as complete and submit scholarship reports as requested.
• Commitment to a coaching philosophy/style consistent with Christian principles and high personal integrity and sportsmanship standards.
• Be aware of students that are struggling academically and collaborate with student success for support.
• Maintain regular office hours.

Qualifications:

• Preferred 5 years of experience coaching basketball, preferable at the collegiate level
• Preferred experience recruiting college athletes
• A demonstrable faith in Jesus Christ
