Vice President/ Director of Athletics

Marian University seeks an accomplished, strategic, and mission-centered leader to serve as Vice President/Director of Athletics, with an anticipated start date of July 2027. As a Catholic Franciscan institution serving more than 5,000 students, including over 740 student-athletes, Marian is committed to academic achievement, competitive excellence, leadership development, and student success.

The Vice President/Director of Athletics will provide vision and strategic oversight for Marian’s nationally competitive NAIA athletics program while advancing the university’s Catholic Franciscan mission and institutional priorities. Responsibilities include developing long-term athletics strategies; overseeing budgets, scholarships, facilities, compliance, and operations; supporting student-athlete recruitment, retention, and graduation; and recruiting, developing, and supervising coaches and staff. The leader will strengthen fundraising, sponsorships, alumni engagement, and community partnerships while promoting integrity, sportsmanship, financial sustainability, and student-athlete well-being. Success in this role requires adaptability, sound judgment, responsible stewardship, and a commitment to preparing student-athletes for meaningful lives of leadership and service. As a senior university leader, this individual will collaborate across departments and contribute to institutional planning and decision-making.

Qualified candidates must demonstrate progressive leadership experience in collegiate athletics, higher education, sports administration, or a related field, along with strong financial management, organizational leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills. Commitment to Marian’s Franciscan Sponsorship Values is essential. A bachelor’s degree is required; an advanced degree is preferred.
